They’re meeting behind closed doors in Canberra to talk about your money. Here’s why it matters.

Jim Chalmers and Anthony Albanese can’t get their lines straight on their plan to increase taxes.

Small businesses don’t ask for much, just a level playing field, fair rules, and the chance to get on with the job.
Today we sat down with aviation operators at Moorabbin Airport to hear what’s helping, what’s holding them back, and where government needs to do better.
You can’t have a strong aviation sector without strong small businesses. And you can’t support small business if you don’t show up and listen.

Labor promised working families a better life. Instead, they’ve delivered weaker growth, higher costs, and declining living standards.

Just wrapped up the opening of @timwilsonmp`s new electorate office.
Hundreds of locals are here because they are excited to see Tim back in Canberra.
He’s going to make a big contribution to our team, fighting hard for small businesses and for aspiration, that thread which connects every part of Australia.

Why are we still falling short in remote communities? Here’s what locals told me.

Albanese and the ACTU are cooking up plans to increase your taxes to pay for Labor`s spending.

We spent the afternoon out at the cattle yards in Broome, listening to Dr Tracy Sullivan and Allison Dakin, two leaders shaping what sustainable, Indigenous-led agriculture looks like in the north.
It’s tough country. But they’re building something strong: jobs, training, and opportunities for the next generation.
If we want to get the settings right, we’ve got to start by listening to communities across the country.

We’re in the East Kimberley this week, listening to the people doing the real work.
We met young apprentices at the local workshop. Youth workers keeping kids out of trouble. Community leaders building programs that work.
But we also heard what’s not working. Policies that sound good on paper but fall flat in practice. Promises that never get followed up.
That’s why this trip matters. Not just to show up, but to show we’re serious about change.
Because the gap isn’t closing. And people out here feel forgotten.
It’s time that the government listened and actually acted on what it hears.

Here`s why I’m in the Kimberley listening for the next couple days.

Safe to say these boys have earned a couple cold beers!
Thanks for the warm welcome back, Kununurra.

If we’re serious about closing the gap, we need to be here, on the ground, listening.
Today we sat down with the beautiful Healema, Adrian and the team at @waringarri This local organisation is doing vital work, from cultural programs for men to support for families and youth.
They know what’s working. And they know what needs to change.

A big welcome to the students and teachers from Gol Gol Public School during their visit to Parliament House this week.
They came to see how things work in Canberra, and we had a good chat about what life is like as an MP and as the Leader of the Opposition both here and back home in Farrer.
Great questions from the students about the issues they want me to raise as their representative!

More Australians are having to use their credit card along with their Medicare card under Labor.

In 1980, Mervyn Bennett was selected to represent Australia at the Moscow Olympics.
But like many others, he made the incredibly tough decision not to go, standing in solidarity with those suffering under the Soviet regime.
It came at a real personal cost. But it was a decision made with integrity, courage and principle.
On the 45th anniversary of the Moscow Games, I had the chance to honour Mervyn and thank him.
Not just for the athlete he was, but for the stand he took when it mattered most.
I also paid tribute to the 121 Australians who did compete. Their achievements on the world stage made our nation proud.
Whether they chose to go or not, each athlete in 1980 showed strength, conviction, and a deep love for their country.

Congratulations to each of my colleagues who delivered their first speeches to parliament.
The first speech is a unique moment, to share your story, your values, and your vision for Australia. Each of them did that with clarity and conviction. I encourage you to take a moment to listen.
I`m proud to lead this team.
