Australia Day is a day for celebrating our freedoms, our values, and our unique Australian way of life.
It is a day for looking forward to our future together.
Unfortunately, the Albanese Labor Government is undermining Australia Day by changing the rules to allow local councils to cancel their citizenship ceremonies on January 26.
So far 81 Councils have taken up that offer and cancelled their citizenship ceremonies.
The Coalition believes that new citizens should have the opportunity to become Australians on our national day.
We should celebrate Australia Day, not undermine it.
Labor is laying the groundwork to abolish January 26 as Australia Day.
