After the events of the last 24 hours, it is clear there is a deep, irreconcilable split in the Australian Labor Party.

There are two camps, each with their own leaders, who refuse to co-operate and serve with each other.

The resignation of five frontbenchers in just a day demonstrates that, despite Julia Gillard’s claims to the contrary, the matter has not ended.
 
This is the worse split in a government in Australian history.

And, this during a time when the government should be focused on delivering a Budget which ends the waste, reduces debt and returns Australia to sustainable surpluses.

By contrast, the Coalition stands ready with a proven and experienced team offering Australians the strong, stable and competent government that our country deserves. 

Sixteen members of the Shadow Cabinet were experienced ministers in an effective Coalition Government.

The Coalition has a united and experienced team with plans that will deliver a strong, prosperous economy and a safe, secure Australia.
